Una To Honor Veterans At Memorial Amphitheater

FLORENCE, Ala. - The University of North Alabama will host its annual Veterans Day program at the Memorial Amphitheater on campus at 11 a.m. Nov. 11. Rain location will be the Performance Center of the Guillot University Center.

The event will include guest speaker and UNA alumna Marry Day Smith. Smith received her bachelor's degree in sociology from UNA in 2008. She was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army and the Alabama National Guard. Smith is currently active in the local American Legion, serving as adjutant; Veterans of Foreign Wars; the Korean War Veterans Association; and the American Legion's Ladies Auxiliary. The event will include addresses from UNA President William G. Cale Jr. and Student Government Association President Samuel Thigpen. The UNA Chorus will perform service songs, and "Taps" will be played by Russ McCollum, a student from the UNA music department. There will be a reception following the event.
